Founder
Hi, my name is Marcy. I had an idea...
Having a passion for alternative education and for fostering a love of learning, I envisioned a micro-school for homeschooling kids where they could flourish in their minds and independence; an environment to strengthen core subjects, bolster work at home, and enjoy enriching classes while exploring new things and learning life skills. But foremost, a place where they looked forward to going and one where they felt a strong sense of self.
I have gathered like-minded, credentialed teachers to lead our kids through interesting subjects in a whole-child approach, meeting them at their level, and teaching in a variety of ways to keep learning engaging and fun. The Bending Willow Academy is my idea come to fruition. I hope our academy serves you well and enriches your homeschool experience!
Kids learn (and thrive) in many ways and have different needs; knowing this, I've created two programs: my classroom site in Thousand Oaks and an outdoor school on 2 acres in Simi Valley.

Jemma Wildermuth, CReATE Studio
I’m Jemma, the owner, and founder of CReATE STUDIO. Through my artistic mash-up between recycling and art, kids develop an organic, hands-on understanding of the benefits of recycling, reusing, and reducing waste; creating the next generation to help our planet. Recyclables spark an expanded imagination when kids look beyond what is and imagine what can be. Open-ended creating requires critical thinking and resourcefulness to bring their creative ideas to life. Ultimately, when kids see what they’ve been able to create — all on their own — it leads to deeper self confidence. Best of all, these skills are transferable to other areas of our kids lives.
