Description:
Tuesday and Thursday English Language Arts (both days):
Grammar and Writing: By studying poetry, quality literature excerpts, short stories, and the Paragraph Town textbook, students will enhance their grammar, sentence structure, spelling, punctuation, and writing skills through copy work and dictation. They will maintain a notebook for copy work, dictations, and writing.
Arts and Literature Study: The students will practice oral narration and improve their reading skills by reading a book together in class and studying art prints from well-known artists. They will maintain a notebook where they can recreate the artwork they observe and record quotes from the literature selection.
Tuesday Social Studies
Geography: Students will maintain a notebook for mapping different regions using Mapping the World with Art. They will learn geographical terms, tools and practice map study to remember countries and major landmarks in every continent. Along the way they will explore different cultures or historical figures to be highlighted in their notebook.
Thursday Science
Life, Physical and Earth Science will be explored. Each will be the focus of a quarter. Life science will cover cells, organisms, and ecosystems. Physical science will emphasize energy, motion, forces and basics of the periodic table. Earth Science will touch on structure/plate tectonics, climate, weather, and solar system. Students will maintain a science notebook for drawings or lab/project write ups.

The children will learn all the kindergarten greatness academically, socially and creatively. We will explore letters, numbers, reading, introduction to science and history, movement, music, outside time, snacks, structure and following directions.

Cherry Tree STEAM Pod is a teacher-facilitated, student-centered experience where learners explore areas of interest while socializing in a safe environment. The centers/lessons will span Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, and will include engaging activities in pods such as games/challenges, cooking, building, painting, physical activities, and more.

Aims to foster an appreciation for diversity, build self-identity, and develop an understanding of global communities through an exploration of various cultural elements and family heritage. Students learn about their own backgrounds and the traditions of people around the world.

Little Explorers is an engaging two-hour enrichment experience designed for curious young learners who love to build, create, and discover. Hosted on our academic campus, this class centers around interactive, hands-on activities that make learning active, meaningful, and fun.
Each session features project-based learning experiences that encourage children to explore new ideas through doing. Students will participate in building challenges, creative art projects, sensory exploration, problem-solving activities, and collaborative tasks designed to strengthen critical thinking and independence. Miss Jessica is a former Horizon Hills teacher. This is a drop-off class but parents are welcome to stay nearby on the campus. Children must be potty-trained.

In this interactive class, students dive into exciting science investigations through slime-making, chemical reactions, engineering challenges, erupting experiments, sensory projects, and creative problem-solving activities. Each session encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and real-world discovery through active participation — not just observation.
Students will learn scientific concepts by forming hypotheses, testing ideas, analyzing results, and refining their experiments. Along the way, they’ll strengthen teamwork skills, build confidence, and develop a deeper understanding of how science connects to everyday life.

Resilience and Emotional Intelligence will help your child build confidence, manage big feelings, and develop strong social skills. Through games, mindfulness, role-play, and creative activities, students learn how to handle challenges and bounce back with a positive mindset. Marine Biology Class 9am - 55 min Grades 3-5 / $245 (2 hour class, labs at 10 am)

Explore marine ecosystems, learn about ocean habitats, and discover the unique adaptations of animals such as sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, coral reef species, and deep-sea creatures. Through engaging activities, experiments, model-building, and interactive discussions, students will investigate topics like food chains, ocean conservation, tides, and marine biodiversity.
Young marine scientists will develop critical thinking skills as they examine real-world environmental challenges and explore how we can protect our oceans. Each session encourages curiosity, teamwork, and scientific discovery in a fun and supportive setting.

Marine Biology Lab II 10am - 55 min Grades 3-6 / $230 + $20 material fee

Take your ocean knowledge even deeper in our Marine Biology Lab — an interactive, hands-on extension of our Marine Biology class.
In this engaging lab experience, students move from learning about marine life to investigating it like real scientists. Through experiments, specimen observations, dissections, water testing simulations, and ecosystem investigations, students will apply the concepts they’ve learned in class to real-world scientific exploration.
Participants will examine ocean zones, analyze food webs, explore adaptations through hands-on models, and conduct simple marine science experiments. The lab emphasizes observation, data collection, critical thinking, and teamwork while reinforcing key marine biology concepts.

A hands-on geology class designed for students in grades 3–6 who are curious about rocks, minerals, volcanoes, earthquakes, and the forces that shape our planet.
In this interactive course, students will explore the rock cycle, identify minerals, investigate fossils, and learn how mountains, canyons, and landforms are formed. Through experiments, model-building, rock investigations, and creative projects, students will examine Earth’s layers and discover how natural processes change the planet over time.
Young geologists will practice observation skills, conduct simple tests on rock samples, and explore real-world geological phenomena while developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Each session encourages curiosity, collaboration, and scientific discovery in a fun, engaging environment.

Great Americans in History is an inspiring and interactive class that introduces students to the influential leaders, innovators, pioneers, and changemakers who helped shape our nation.
Through engaging lessons, primary source exploration, hands-on projects, and collaborative discussions, students will learn about individuals who demonstrated courage, leadership, creativity, and perseverance. From presidents and inventors to civil rights leaders, explorers, entrepreneurs, and cultural icons, students will examine how these figures impacted American history and continue to influence our world today.
This class goes beyond memorizing dates — students will analyze decisions, explore historical challenges, and reflect on the character traits that made these individuals great. Activities may include biographical projects, debates, creative presentations, and interactive timelines that bring history to life.
